Development in science of cosmetic surgery has made liposuction very safe ,painless and very effective .One method that has been developed is wet liposuction. This procedure is conducted under general anesthesia. Once the patient is asleep, the treatment site is injected with a saline solution which contains a mixture of ingredients that includes anesthesia and adrenaline. The solution breaks down the fatty tissue. It also causes the blood vessels at the treatment site to constrict which restricts blood flow to the area to prevent blood loss. Because the amount of blood flowing to the area is limited, there is less bruising. Swelling is also minimal. Once the saline solution has filled the treatment area, a small incision is made and a cannula is inserted and further breaks down the fatty tissue and suctions it out. If the treatment area is large, more than one incision is made. Once the fat has been suctioned, the cannula is removed and the incision is stitched up. Tumescent liposuction is similar to wet liposuction. The difference is that tumescent liposuction uses a larger volume of solution for treatment.
The word wet liposuction comes from the solution that is injected into the treatment site to break up the fat. Other forms of liposuction which do not use a solution is considered dry liposuction and are not risky at all.
